How I Discovered Too Good To Go
As a flight attendant, I’m always bouncing between cities, hotels, and grocery stores — and like everyone else in the U.S., I’ve felt the rising cost of groceries and eating out. A few weeks ago, another flight attendant introduced me to the Too Good To Go app, and I’ve been obsessed ever since.
The concept is simple: restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores sell “surprise bags” filled with items that are still perfectly good but didn’t sell that day. You pay a fraction of the price, reduce food waste, and get a fun mystery haul.
For someone like me — who creates food, lifestyle, and travel content — this app fits perfectly into my brand. Even when the items don’t look glamorous, I make them work. And when they do look glamorous? Even better.
My Whole Foods Surprise Bag Adventure
Recently, I picked up two specialty bags from Whole Foods in Paradise Valley. I expected deli goodies, maybe a fancy dip, maybe something truffle-adjacent. Instead… both bags were identical.
Each one had:
- 4 Camembert Herve Mons
- 2 BonHomme Brie
So I ended up with six blocks of specialty cheese. Six. Luxury leftovers.
But here’s the thing: I don’t waste food. I make it boujee. Here are a few recipes I’ve made on my trips!
🥗 Boujee Salad #1 — Camembert + Peach + Fig Glaze (Italy)
A gorgeous, summery, European-inspired salad using ingredients I brought back from Italy.

Ingredients
- Camembert (cut into wedges)
- Mixed greens or arugula
- Walnuts
- Olive oil
- Fresh peach slices
- Raisins
- Italian Fig Glaze (Crema di Fichi)

Instructions
- Add greens to a bowl and drizzle lightly with olive oil.
- Add peach slices, raisins, and walnuts.
- Place Camembert wedges on top.
- Finish with a generous drizzle of Italian fig glaze.
- Serve chilled or room temp — the Camembert softens beautifully.
Why it works
The fig glaze + Camembert combo tastes like a fancy European cheese board turned into a salad. Sweet, creamy, nutty, and fresh.
🥗 Boujee Salad #2 — Brie + Strawberries + Crema Balsamica de Manzana (Spain)
This one is bright, fruity, and perfect for brunch or a flight-attendant meal prep moment. I had a Barcelona layover, but I couldn’t find an Italian Fig Glaze there. However, they have something similar called Crema Balsamica De Manzana which are Apple Balsamic Creme. I made this on my flight from Barcelona to New York, and it was delicious!
Ingredients
- Brie (cut into wedges)
- Mixed greens
- Walnuts
- Olive oil
- Fresh strawberries
- Crema Balsamica de Manzana (Spain)
Instructions
- Toss greens with olive oil.
- Add sliced strawberries and walnuts.
- Add Brie wedges.
- Drizzle with the Spanish apple balsamic crema.
- Enjoy immediately — the sweet-tart crema pairs perfectly with Brie.
Why it works
The apple balsamic crema from Spain brings acidity and sweetness that cuts through the creaminess of Brie. I made this in the aircraft galley, and it tastes like a luxury hotel salad. My crew was impressed!

🍯 Bonus Pairing: British Honey + Rosemary
Brie or Camembert with Warm Honey-Rosemary Drizzle
- Warm 2 tbsp honey with a pinch of rosemary.
- Drizzle over baked Brie or Camembert.
- Serve with fruit, crackers or bread. I gluten anymore, but I tried this with rosemary almond crackers and it was yummy!
It’s simple, elegant, and tastes like something served in a London wine bar.
